+++++

"No pareces estar bien."

Read online Tears on a Withered Flower Chapter 41 English

The quiet hum of the city filled the air as Na Hae-soo sat alone in the dimly lit café. The bitter taste of her untouched coffee reflected the heaviness in her heart.

Her mind was clouded with memories of the past—the laughter that once echoed in her home, the warmth she once felt in her husband's embrace, and the unbearable pain of betrayal that shattered it all.

She had thought she had endured the worst when he left her for another woman. But seeing him again, standing beside someone much younger, someone who had replaced her so easily, made the wound in her heart ache as if it had been torn open once more.

A Heart in Ruins

Na Hae-soo clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as she recalled the scene from the night before.

Her husband—no, her ex-husband—was laughing, his arm draped around the slender shoulders of a woman who couldn't have been more than a few years older than a college student. They looked so happy, so content, as if the years they had spent together had meant nothing to him.

Her chest tightened. How could he move on so easily while she was left to pick up the shattered pieces of her life?

The weight of everything threatened to crush her. The debts he left behind, the hushed whispers of those who once called themselves her friends, and worst of all—the emptiness in her soul from the child she had lost.

An Unexpected Encounter

As she sat lost in thought, a voice suddenly broke through her spiraling despair.

+++++

"Are you okay?"

Hae-soo looked up, startled. A young man stood before her, his gaze filled with concern. His dark eyes held a sincerity she hadn’t seen in a long time—perhaps ever.

He was a stranger, yet something about him felt... familiar. There was no pity in his expression, only quiet understanding.

"I'm fine," she replied automatically, but her voice wavered, betraying the truth.

The young man hesitated before pulling out a chair and sitting across from her. "You don't look fine."

She narrowed her eyes. "Who are you?"

A small smile played on his lips, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Someone who understands what it's like to be left behind."

His words sent a shiver down her spine.

Who was he? And why did it feel like he had stepped into her life at the exact moment she needed someone the most?

The Beginning of Something New

The café grew quieter as the night deepened, but the conversation between them continued. She learned that he was much younger than her, yet his eyes carried a depth of sorrow she recognized all too well.

When he finally spoke again, his words caught her completely off guard.

"Teach me about love."

Hae-soo blinked, unsure if she had heard correctly. "Excuse me?"

His gaze never wavered. "Teach me what it means to love as an adult. Not the fleeting, naive kind of love, but the kind that lasts, the kind that heals."

For the first time in a long while, Hae-soo felt something stir inside her—a flicker of something she thought had died long ago.

Could she truly open her heart again?

Or was this just another path leading to heartbreak?

To Be Continued...
